Where do I start?

The best place to start is to find the right person to build your home and the right person to design your home. You need to be able to enjoy the company of these people as they will more than likely be at the front of your mind for at least the next 12 months. We always advise to choose your builder early to be there for questions and help meet the clients budget requirements during the design process.

What is the difference between custom-home builder and a volume builder?

The main difference is custom-home builders are generally small construction businesses who specialise in unique builds which are different every time. A custom-home builder will build a unique home specific to your site and your individual requirements and style. They also have a higher standard of construction principles, giving a premium quality and finish. One of the benefits in choosing this type of builder is the flexibility and choice you have as you work collaboratively with your builder to design and select the fixtures and finishes you want. 

Generally, when you work with a custom-home builder you work with the builder directly. He will assist you through all stages of the building project. Volume builders operate by providing a range of standard designs they have in their library sold to you by a salesperson. They are generally not site specific, so don’t allow for layout flexibility. Usually, your choice of fixtures and fittings is limited.

How long does it take to build? 

As each of our builds are unique, it is hard to give a timeline until we have developed plans and site inspections. Surfview Builders give a solid timeline at the earliest possible time in the process.
